In his teens, owner, Tony Ardillo Sr. began his career by pumping gas for Paul's Service Center on Emerson Street. From there, he worked for his Uncle at a gas station on West Main and Jefferson Ave, then moved to Mike's Sunoco on Buffalo and Wegman Road in Gates. After that, his Uncle built a new facility at 73 Marway Circle, which then became, Gates Automotive. After having been an employee, and then partner for 29 years, Tony Sr. started his own company in 2017 after his business partner retired. He re-named the business to what is now known as, Gates Towing - Service & Fleet! Tony Sr. continues to work hard and expand his company with the help of family and dedicated employees that have become family. 

In 2017, Gates Towing moved into our current building at 1421 Scottsville Road. Since then, we've expanded and renovated twice, and are currently working on the third. The first expansion included three tall bay doors, two along the front of the building and one in the back. The second expansion and renovation added what is now the service desk and a larger waiting area, as well as, the towing and impound office behind that. Tony Sr. certainly has an eye for a clean and inviting facility! That's why the renovations have included beautiful new flooring, paint, brick work and windows throughout. 

At the end of 2023, another tall bay door was added to the back of the shop to match the two in the front. We now have the original two bays next to the service office, and four tall bay doors - two in the front and two in the back of the building. As we continue to grow and expand, we find ourselves needing even more room so that we can continue to provide the timely service that our customers are used to. In the coming year, we are excited to work on our next expansion of adding onto the back of the building and creating an even larger mechanic shop. The details are still in the works but, it will allow us to have the space and even more lifts to help us, help you, by getting your vehicles up and running, and back on the road in no time! 

Throughout the years, and through it all, we've always had family. A large portion of our success has been because of our people, and those that have stuck with us long enough to become family. Bottom line is, it wouldn't be possible, and we wouldn't be where we are today, without them. 

Our biggest thanks goes out to our Service Manager, Tim and Towing Manager, Scott. Tim began working at Gates Automotive in 2015 as a Parts Manager. When Tony bought the new building and started Gates Towing, Tim was promoted to GM and Service Manager. Everyday, he is the smiling face you see when you walk through our door. Tim is a problem solver and does everything that he can to keep our service customers happy.

Scott started out in 2017 as a Tow Truck Driver and was promoted to Towing and Impound manager in 2022. Even today, you can still see Scott out in a truck helping with tows and police calls. He takes the time to make sure all of our Tow Truck Operators are being smart and safe while out on the road and is always available 24/7 for any questions that our drivers may have. 

Our Senior Technicians, Rick and John, have been working with Tony since 2000. Our other Senior Technician, Jay, as well as, one of our Tow Truck Operators, Chad, have been with Tony since 2013. Bill, another Tow Truck Operator, has been with Tony since 2017. 

Regardless if an employee has been with us for 20 years or 2, they are the people that make it possible for Gates Towing to be successful day after day. And for that, we'd like to thank each and every employee for their hard work and dedication.
